And so to Sunday and a new day anticipating some good bowling.
Little Gaddesden were represented at the annual tournament at Cheddington by Frank Johnson (skip), Mark Woods, Reg Venn and myself. We arrived shortly before 10 in time for a bacon roll before getting down to business.
Out on the rinks, 24 teams divided into two groups would compete for this year's title. Ranged against us were county and national level bowlers. It was a good experience and we all enjoyed our day even if we didn't enjoy the results as much. Good to see Wing and Aston Clinton over there, too although, John from Wing was reporting as rough a day as we were being given.
Undoubtably, it sharpened up our bowling. We came back to the club and today (Monday) all won our games playing better bowls than maybe last time out.... Sorry Reg, I wish I could have played that well yesterday, too ;)
Well done Cheddington! That was an excellently organised day and seemed to go like clockwork. Such sterling work from the ladies making teas and selling an assortment of food through the day, bar staff, marshalls and everyone else supporting the event. Without the team behind these days, it wouldn't be the same. Congratulations to everyone at Cheddington Bowls Club.
We look forward to joining you again, next year. Perhaps you could be kind and not set us against an U-25 national player too :)) The used fivers will be in the post ;)
